West Metro Area
The west metro area includes the cities of Lakewood, Wheat Ridge Arvada, Golden, and unincorporated Jefferson County. The area is primarily suburban in nature, although Arvada and Golden have historic downtown areas. Lakewood is building a new "downtown," known as Belmar (see below). One office park, Denver West, is located in the western area. It contains approximately 2 million square feet of office space, and several retail developments including the Colorado Mills mall. The following is a compilation of the larger projects underway or proposed in the area. (Click on the thumbnails for larger pics)


Belmar (Lakewood)

Location: Wadsworth Blvd. and Alameda Avenue.
Height: Up to 125 feet
Floors: up to 10
Completion Date: 2004-08
Project Details: This New Urbanist project will create a downtown area in Lakewood on the site of the existing Villa Italia Mall. Ultimately, the project will contain 600,000 square feet of retail, 900,000 square feet of office space, and 1,300 residential units. Belmar Residential Developments

Location: Wadsworth Blvd. and Alameda Avenue.
Height: Up to 50 feet
Floors: up to 4
Completion Date: 2007-08
Project Details: A number of residential projects are currently underway or will begin construction during 2006. The projects pictured above include several hundred of the 1,300 units planned.


Residences at Belmar Plaza

Location: Wadsworth Blvd. & Alameda Ave.
Height: 65 feet
Floors: 5
Completion Date: 2007
Project Details: This 62 unit condominium building will include ground floor retail and underground parking.


Lofts at Belmar Square

Location: Wadsworth Blvd. & Alameda Ave.
Height: 60 feet

Project Details: This 75 unit condominium building is part of a two-phase project that also include 350 apartment units and a shared parking structure.


7133 West Virginia

Location: Wadsworth Blvd. & Alameda Ave.

Project Details: This 62 unit apartment building will be located near the south side of the overall project.


Ameristar Casino Hotel

Location: Black Hawk
Height: 350 feet
Floors: 33
Completion Date: 2008
Project Details: This hotel will be part of an existing casino complex. The hotel will include 536 rooms, rooftop pool, and additional parking facilities. The hotel will be the tallest building in the State of Colorado outside of downtown Denver.


Belmar North

Location: Alameda & Wadsworth
Height: Up to 120 feet
Floors: 5, 8, and 10
Completion Date: 2008/2009
Project Details: This multi-phase project is proposed to include 260 residential units, 54,400 square feet or retail, and 59,200 square feet of office.


Gateway Station

Location: Downtown Golden
Height: 60 feet
Floors: 5
Completion Date: 2007/2008
Project Details: This project will include two phases. The first phase will include 34 condominiums, 7,500 square feet of office space, and 16,000 square feet of retail space in a 5 story building. The second phase will include 14 condominium units and 8,700 square feet of retail space in a 4 story building. Both phases will include below grade parking.


Signature Centre

Location: I-70 and Denver West Blvd.
Height: 65 feet
Floors: 5
Completion Date: 2006
Project Details: This 185,000 square foot building will be the first developed in the Denver West office park in almost 10 years..
