The northwest Denver Highland Neighborhood
The Highland Neighborhood in northwest Denver overlooks downtown and the Central Platte Valley. Highland was originally an independent city, but was incorporated into Denver in the late 1890's. The community has been home to many waves of American immigrants--Italian, Irish, German and Mexican--who established the neighborhood's still-thriving churches, businesses, restaurants and cultural events. Like most central Denver neighborhoods, a building boom is currently under way. The current neighborhood population is approximately 9,500. Over 400 residential units are under construction in the area. (Click on the thumbnails for larger pics)
